CRT waste

The use of electrical and electronic equipment is continuously growing but their lifespan is becoming shorter. For example, around 2 million tonnes of WEEE (Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment) are generated each year in England and this volume is growing by 3% to 5% per year. Even if they represent a small proportion of household waste, WEEE are responsible for a large proportion of pollutants (heavy metals such as lead, cadmium and chromium) and they are thus considered to be dangerous wastes.
Electronic waste, known as "Waste of Electric and Electronic Equipment" (WEEE) or e-waste is refuse of a particular type that consists of any electrical or electronic equipment that the user no longer wants because it is broken, not used, obsolete and destined to be abandoned Principle problems deriving from this type of WEEE refuse are the presence of substances that are considered toxic to the ambient and their non-biodegradeability. 5PM has designed and patented plants that recycle this WEEE refuse, in particular monitors, screens and cathode ray tubes.
